Anthony Fox is an American politician and attorney who served as the United States Secretary of Transportation from 2013 to 2017 under President Barack Obama. He was born on September 30, 1961 in South Carolina and grew up in a military family, moving frequently throughout his childhood.

Fox graduated from Davidson College in North Carolina and received his law degree from New York University School of Law. He worked as a civil rights attorney in private practice before entering politics.

Prior to serving as Secretary of Transportation, Fox was the Mayor of Charlotte, North Carolina from 2009 to 2013. During his tenure, he focused on transportation and infrastructure projects, including the expansion of the city's light rail system.

As Secretary of Transportation, Fox oversaw initiatives to improve the country's transportation infrastructure, promote safety on the roads, and advance transportation technology. He also played a key role in the passage of the FAST Act, a major transportation funding bill.

After leaving office, Fox joined the law firm MVA Public Affairs as a senior advisor. He is also a board member of various organizations, including the American Heart Association and the Chicago Infrastructure Trust.
